Three Wisconsin-based aircraft are featured on the 2018 National Stearman Fly-In’s official poster.
The Stearman trio, set against the background of an approaching storm, is depicted racing to land at Galesburg Municipal Airport.
In the foreground – buzz number 41 – is Pete Spear’s N2S-3.
Next is Tye Hammerle in his PT-17, buzz number 58.
And higher up is Marie Spear in her PT-17, buzz number 44.
The Spears, husband and wife, live in Salem, WI. Hammerle lives in Kenosha, WI. All are regular participants in the Galesburg Fly-In.
Aviation artist Frank H. Schaufler, Brockport, NY, who drew this year’s poster, drew his first Fly-In poster in 2001, and has produced them for 16 of the past 17 years.
Schaufler will be in Galesburg again this year to autograph posters.
Posters – they are $10 each – will be on sale in the Fly-In’s merchandise shop immediately west of Fly-In headquarters. Mailing tubes will also be available for purchase.
