Monday, Sept. 2, 2019

7:00 - 11:00 am: 46th Hog Capital of the World Days fly-in breakfast, Kewanee Municipal Airport (EZI), Kewanee, IL. Hosted by Kewanee Volunteer Fire Department. All-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage. Price $6, kids under 5 free.

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Galesburg Labor Day Parade fly-over briefing after daily briefing.

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

10:00 am: Galesburg Labor Day Parade fly-over.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

6:00 pm: Welcome Picnic for Fly-In participants at Jet Air, Inc. hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Catered by The Rib Shack, Galesburg. Menu: Pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw. Sponsored by Shotts Auto Machine Shop, Galesburg.

7:30 pm: Video Night: "Silver Wings/Flying Dreams, The Complete Story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots."

Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

9:30 am: Seminar to be arranged.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm: Tri-County Airport (2C6) open house. Fly-In visitors welcome any time at historic grass strip in operation since 1953. Located 19nm southeast of KGBG. Hosted by owners Dave and Cathy Shipley. Refreshments, sandwiches and snacks. For more Information, contact Dave at (309) 369-5343.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

Evening: Dine at The Whiskey Barrel, 325 E. Main St., downtown Galesburg. Order from menu. Restaurant reserved for National Stearman Fly-In participants.

Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

9:30 am: Seminar, “Aero Medical Issues,” presented by Dr. Bruce Chien, Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, Bolingbrook, IL. Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

11:00 am:  Lunch-time fly-out to Kewanee Municipal Airport (EZI), Kewanee, IL. Served by Eilers Catering, Kewanee. Menu: Butterfly pork chop sandwich, Kewanee’s Famous Potato Salad, broccoli salad, mixed fruit bowl, dessert, iced tea, lemonade. Price $7.

3:00 pm: Seminar, “Continental W-670 Engine Issues,” presented by Bob Swint, Geneseo, IL. Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

4:00 pm: Pilot briefing for Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade fly-over. Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

5:00 pm: Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade fly-over.

Evening: Dine out in Galesburg.

Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

9:30 am: Seminar, “Surviving a FAA Enforcement Investigation.” Presented by Warren Smith, FAA Safety Program Manager, Springfield, IL, Flight Standards Office. Jet Air, Inc. hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

Mid-morning: Fly-out to Gen-Air Park, Geneseo, IL, for lunch. Menu: Brats, hot dogs, side dish, dessert, drinks. Price $10.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

1:30 pm: Stearman aerobatic contest briefing, Gen-Air Park pilot lounge, Geneseo.

2:00 pm: Stearman aerobatic contest, Gen-Air Park, Geneseo.

3:30pm: Seminar, “Introduction to Air Tech Coatings.” Presented by Robbie Staton, Lonoke, AR. Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

5:30 pm: Beverage wagon opens, Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

6:30 - 7:30 pm: Pizza party, Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Catered by Pizza Ranch, Galesburg. Sponsored by the Stearman Restorers Association. Free for Fly-In participants.

7:30 pm: Gone West! Remembering those in the Stearman community who passed on during the last year. Jet Air hangar.

7:45 pm: National Stearman Fly-In auction night. Jet Air hangar.

Friday, Sept. 6, 2019

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

9:30 am: Stearman Restorers Association annual meeting, Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

10:00 am (time approximate): National Stearman Fly-In “Class of 2019” group photo. Location to be determined depending on weather.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

10:30 am - 2:00 pm: Picnic fly-out.

2:30 pm: Briefing for short field take-off, flour bombing and spot landing contests, Fly-In seminar tent.

3:00 pm: Short field take-off, flour bombing and spot landing contests, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

6:00 pm: Beverage wagon opens, Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

7:00 - 8:00 pm: Luau Night. Break out your Hawaiian shirts! Served by Chef’s Catering, Washington, IL. Menu: Whole roasted hog, BBQ pulled pork with deli bun, grilled Huli Huli chicken with Hawaiian rice, chef’s baked beans, 3-tiered tray featuring variety of vegetables, fruit display with variety of fruit. Tickets, $25, on sale at Fly-In office, must be purchased by Thursday, Sept. 5. Purchase Friday and Saturday night tickets by Thursday’s deadline and save $5

8:00 pm: Program on the National WASP WWII Museum, Avenger Field, Sweetwater, TX, by museum director Carol Cain.

Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019

6:36 am: Dawn Patrol flights launch.

7:00 - 10:00 am: Dawn Patrol Flight Breakfast at Ingersoll Airport, Canton, served by EAA Chapter 832. Menu: biscuits and gravy, fruit cocktail, applesauce, coffee, juice, water. Price $5.

9:00 am - 5:30 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Retail Store open.

10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Children’s activities in Jet Air, Inc. hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. (Children’s activities are sponsored in part through a grant from the Galesburg Community Foundation.)

  • Presentations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. by The Storyteller, Hans Nordsiek, Bergeijk, The Netherlands.
  • Kids’ flight simulator experience hosted by Ric and Lisa Woldow, Morton, IL.
  • Make a paper helicopter and fly it.
  • Create a paper rocket and launch it.
  • Make a Stearman button to wear.
  • Face painting.
  • Complimentary tram ride ticket.

1:30 pm: Formation Flying contest briefing at Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

2:00 pm: Formation flying contest, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

2:30 pm (time approximate): National Stearman Fly-In aerobatic demonstration featuring David Brown, Warrenton, VA, in his stock Stearman.

7:00 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Annual Banquet and Awards Presentations, Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Serving until 8 p.m. Catered by Henn House BBQ, Oneida, IL. Menu: Prime rib, chicken breast, salad with ranch and french dressings, loaded mashed potatoes, green beans, pasta salad, rolls and butter, BBQ sauce. Tickets $30, on sale at Fly-In office, must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 6. Awards sponsored in part by a donation from an Anonymous Galesburg Resident.

Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019

Fly-Out Breakfast - 7:00 - 11:00 am: It’s a Galesburg tradition. Get up early to see Stearman aircraft depart for home. All-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m.-11 a.m. served by Galesburg Noon Lions Club at Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Menu: Pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk, orange juice. Adults $7, children 12 and under $3.
