Monday, Sept. 4, 2017

7:00 - 9:00 am: Stearman 5K Rendezvous. Rain or shine, run or walk the runways at Galesburg Municipal Airport.

7:00 - 11:00 am: 44th Hog Capital of the World Days fly-in breakfast, Kewanee Municipal Airport, Kewanee, IL. Hosted by Kewanee Volunteer Fire Department. All-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage. Adults $5

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Briefing for Labor Day Parade flyover following daily briefing.

10:00 am: Galesburg Labor Day Parade fly-over.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm: Tri-County Airport (2c6) open house. Fly-In visitors welcome any time at historic grass strip 12 minutes southeast of KGBG. Hosted by owners Dave and Cathy Shipley. Refreshments. Information: (309) 369-5343

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

6:00 pm: Welcome Picnic for Fly-In participants at Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Catered by the Rib Shack, Galesburg. Menu: Pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw. Sponsored by Shotts Auto Machine Shop, Galesburg. Free for Fly-In participants.

7:30 pm: Movie night in Jet Air Hangar: “Heroes On Deck: World War II on Lake Michigan.” Free to the public.

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:30 am: Seminar, “ADS-B: How Will It Affect Me?” Presented by Warren Smith, FAA Safety Program Manager, Springfield, IL, Flight Standards Office. Jet Air, Inc. hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

Evening: Dinner at Cerar’s Barnstormer Restaurant, Monmouth, IL. Order from menu. Ground transportation available, contact Stearman Fly-In office.

Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:30 am: Seminar, “Basic Med and the Third Class,” presented by Dr. Bruce Chien, Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, Peoria, IL. Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

10:30 am - 4:00 pm: Ladies Road Trip! A fun road trip back from the Kewanee Fly-Out lunch... Click HERE for more details.

11:00 am:  Lunch-time fly-out to Kewanee Municipal Airport, Kewanee, IL. Catered by Eilers Catering, Kewanee. Menu: Butterfly pork chop sandwich, Kewanee’s Famous Potato Salad, broccoli salad, mixed fruit bowl, dessert, iced tea, lemonade. Price $7.

3:00 pm: “The Last Fighter Pilot,” presentation by retired Army Air Corps Capt. Jerry Yellin, Champions Gate, FL, at the Stearman Fly-In seminar tent. Yellin will sign copies of his newest book after the presentation. Books will be available at the signing.

4:00 pm: Pilot briefing for Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade fly-over. Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

5:00 pm: Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade fly-over.

Evening: Dine out in Galesburg.

Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:00 am: Ageless Aviation Dreams flights honoring American veterans begin.

9:30 am: Seminar, “Stearman Fly-Ins for the Next Generation – Inputs From the Field.” Presented by Mike Rutledge, member of the National Stearman Fly-In Board of Directors. Stearman Fly-In seminar tent.

Mid-morning: Fly-out to Gen-Air Park, Geneseo, IL, for lunch: Menu: Butterfly pork chop sandwich, corn on the cob, coleslaw, cookies. Price $10.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

1:30 pm: Stearman aerobatic contest briefing, Gen-Air Park pilot lounge, Geneseo.

2:00 pm: Stearman aerobatic contest, Gen-Air Park, Geneseo.

3:30 pm: Seminar, "Stearman Differences Found During Restoration," presented by Bob Swint, Geneseo, IL. Stearman Fly-In seminar tent.

5:30 pm: Beverage wagon opens, Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.  

6:30 - 7:30 pm: Pizza party, Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Catered by The Pizza House, Galesburg. Sponsored by the Stearman Restorers Association. Free for Fly-In participants.

7:30 pm: Gone West! Remembering those in the Stearman community who passed on during the last year. Jet Air hangar.

7:35 pm: Program, “Saving History: U.S. Naval Air Station Ottumwa, Iowa,” presented by Steve Black, president of Friends of NAS Ottumwa. Jet Air Hangar.

Friday, Sept. 8, 2017

9:00 am: Daily pilot briefing, Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport

9:30 am: Stearman Restorers Association annual meeting, Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport. 

10:00 am (time approximate): National Stearman Fly-In “Class of 2017” group photo. Mike Rutledge, Stearman Restorers Association president, will “wrangle” participants.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm: Narrated tram rides along Stearman flight line for general public (weather permitting). $1 per person.

10:30 am - 2:00 pm: Picnic fly-out.

2:30 pm: Briefing for short field take-off, flour bombing and spot landing contests, Fly-In seminar tent.

3:00 pm: Short field take-off, flour bombing and spot landing contests, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

6:00 pm: Beverage wagon opens, Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

7:00 - 8:00 pm: Friday night dinner at Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Catered by Henn House BBQ, Oneida. Menu: Menu: Sliced brisket, cheesy potatoes, green beans, roll and butter. Tickets $15; beverages additional.
Tickets, on sale at Fly-In office, should be purchased by Thursday, Sept. 7.  

8:00 pm: Program, "Old Airplanes and Old Pilots. Where Is the Next Generation.” Presented by John Pike, Big Sky Stearman, Oregon City, OR. Jet Air hangar.

Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017

6:36 am: Dawn Patrol flights launch to Southeast Iowa Regional Airport, Burlington.

7:00 - 10:00 am: Dawn Patrol Flight Breakfast at Southeast Iowa Regional Airport, Burlington. Sponsored by EAA Chapter 700. Menu: Egg casserole, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, juice, coffee, milk, water. Price: $8 for full order with drinks, $5 for half order. Free breakfast for pilot-in-command of each arriving Stearman courtesy of Heartland Harley-Davidson (Bob Knoll), Burlington.

1:00 - 3:00 pm: Children’s activities in Jet Air, Inc. hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Kids’ flight simulator experience hosted by Ric and Lisa Woldow, Morton, IL.

1:00 - 4:00 pm: “East to Meet the Enemy” book signing by Galesburg author William M. Tarrant. In front of Stearman Fly-In office.

1:00 pm: Formation Flying contest briefing at Stearman Fly-In seminar tent, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

1:30 pm: Formation flying contest, Galesburg Municipal Airport.

2:30 pm: Aerobatics demonstrations featuring David Brown, Warrenton, VA, in his stock Stearman, Lee Crouch, Liberty, MO, in his 450-horsepower Stearman, and Greg Vallero, St. Charles, MO, in his AT-6.

3:00 pm: Parade of Flight, an airborne history of Stearman aircraft, over Galesburg Municipal Airport.

7:00 pm: National Stearman Fly-In Annual Banquet and Awards Presentations at Jet Air Hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Serving until 8 p.m. Catered by Cerar’s Barnstormer, Monmouth. Menu: Carved prime rib, parmesan crusted chicken, holiday potatoes, fruit salad, broccoli salad, corn, rolls and butter. Tickets $25. Tickets, on sale at the Fly-In office, should be purchased by Friday, Sept. 8. Awards sponsored in part with a donation by an Anonymous Galesburg Resident.

Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017

Fly-Out Breakfast - 7:00 - 11:00 am: It’s a Galesburg tradition. Get up early to see Stearman aircraft depart for home. All-you-can-eat breakfast served by Galesburg Noon Lions Club at Jet Air hangar, Galesburg Municipal Airport. Menu: Pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk, orange juice. Adults $7, children 12 and under $3.
