The National Stearman Fly-In has purchased 300 new metal folding chairs.

The chairs will be used in the Fly-In’s seminar tent and for banquets and programs held in Jet Air, Inc.’s hangar. The 47th National Stearman Fly-In is scheduled Sept. 3-8, 2018, at Galesburg Municipal Airport.

Safety issues with old chairs rented from vendors prompted the Fly-In’s board of directors to approve buying new seating, said Phillip Wolford, Fly-In board president.

“If you would like to help with acquisition expenses, we will recognize you, your organization, or a loved one, with a vinyl decal that will be affixed to the back of a chair,” Wolford said.

The cost to sponsor a chair is $20, Wolford said, or six chairs for $100. For those donors who wish to be anonymous, sponsored chairs will read “National Stearman Fly-In.”
